Chakra 101: Understanding Your 7 Energy Centers
In many ancient Eastern traditions, there is a universal concept: Along the center of your body, from the base of your spine to the top of your head, lie seven energy vortexes. Each vortex corresponds to an organ, gland, or energy zone within you. Beyond these seven main chakras, there are smaller energy points — some say 19, others up to 440. But the numbers do not matter. We only need to focus on the seven major chakras. What truly matters is that they spin balanced, clear, and stable.
Chakra states are not fixed; they are always flowing and changing. A healthy chakra is flexible, vibrant, and steady in its vibration. When out of balance, it needs time and gentle practice to heal and realign.
In ancient Indian Ayurveda, life force energy is called Prana. It teaches that weakness, pain, and low mood come from blocked Prana. When life energy flows freely again, body and mind return to health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine shares this wisdom. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) emphasizes that “true healing addresses the root”. It calls life energy Qi, which consists of Yin and Yang. Illness arises when Yin and Yang are out of harmony. Healing means restoring balance between these two forces.
What Are Chakras?
The chakra system comes from ancient yogic teachings of India. It explains your body’s natural energy field, the function of each energy center, and how they interact with the world around you. It remains one of the most complete and widely practiced energy systems today.
Through deep meditation and lifelong practice, ancient yogis described the invisible energy within the human body. They integrated it with medicine, psychology, nutrition, and crystal healing into a complete holistic system.
In the Vedas, Prana is the universal life force that flows through all living things. The Yajur Veda describes 11 forms of life energy, governing the senses: hearing, touch, sight, taste, smell, and physical functions: speech, movement, thought, elimination, reproduction.

The word Chakra in Sanskrit means “wheel” or “spinning vortex”. If this sounds familiar — yes, it’s the same “chakra” energy used in Naruto. Naruto is the protagonist because the Nine-Tailed Fox inside him grants him nearly unlimited chakra.
Whether you call it chakra, energy center, or Qi point, the meaning is the same: Chakras are spinning energy centers, like rotating galaxies in the universe. Healthy chakras spin steadily clockwise, connecting and clearing your entire energy pathway.
Two Core Systems: Chakras & Nadis
In chakra philosophy, subtle energy works through two systems:
1. Chakras
Energy centers that spin at fixed locations, influencing related organs and mental-emotional functions. When we talk about chakras, we usually mean the seven major chakras along your central channel. They are Root Chakra (Muladhara), Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana), Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), Heart Chakra (Anahata), Throat Chakra (Vishuddha), Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) and Crown Chakra (Sahasrara).
2. Nadis
Energy pathways that connect the chakras. There are three main nadis, and the most important is the Sushumna — the central channel running from the Root Chakra up to the Crown Chakra. All seven major chakras rest along this central nadi.

When all seven spin healthily and energy flows smoothly, you feel grounded, stable, joyful, and whole. You can better process emotional challenges and return to balance.
If chakras are in a state of Energy Stagnation, Energy Depletion, or Excessive Energy Spin, this shows up physically, emotionally, and mentally — discomfort, illness, or long-term inner drain.
Chakras affect one another: Instability below disrupts the upper chakras, while imbalance above weakens the lower ones.
For thousands of years, yoga, meditation, breathwork, and sound healing have been used to balance chakras. Crystals are also gentle, powerful tools recognized by ancient sages. Using healing stones to support chakra balance can ease many physical and emotional challenges.
That is the purpose of this series: to help you learn simple, practical self-healing. Because how smoothly your energy flows determines your physical health, your emotional happiness, and your harmony with yourself and the world.
When you understand chakras and learn to realign them, you naturally gain: health, joy, safety, inner strength, love, and peace.
For thousands of years, humans have explored the secrets of the chakras. Each chakra holds an ancient key, and that key is available to you.
The 4 Most Common States of Chakra Imbalance
1. Energy Shock (Trauma)
Energy Shock usually comes from outside: physical harm, emotional abuse, betrayal, fear, or shock. These intense experiences can “injure” a chakra, disrupting its normal function and creating an imbalance. Over time, this may lead to stagnant energy, negative spinning patterns, inability to process the life lessons of that chakra, and feeling closed, tight, and “untouchable”.
For example: Those who experienced physical or emotional violation often carry Energy Shock in the Root or Sacral Chakra. As adults, they may struggle with intimacy, fear touch, or find trust difficult.
When we are betrayed, criticized, or attacked, our chakras can close, making us afraid to receive kindness or give love.
2. Energy Stagnation (Blockage)
Energy Shock typically stems from external sources, while Energy Stagnation usually originates from within. When you avoid a life lesson, refuse to face it, or resist change, energy becomes stuck, heavy, and dull. Long-term Energy Stagnation can lead to avoidance of real-life situations, feeling stuck and unable to move forward, and physical or emotional discomfort in related areas.
Examples:
Only connecting online, fearing real interaction → Sacral Chakra Energy Stagnation
Hiding true feelings, avoiding self-expression → Heart or Solar Plexus Energy Stagnation, often linked to stomach issues.
3. Energy Depletion (Weakness/Underactive)
When Energy Shock or Energy Stagnation persists for a long time, chakras can slip into a state of Energy Depletion. A chakra experiencing Energy Depletion often reflects a resistance to engaging fully with life. It weakens other chakras and seriously harms your well-being.
Example: Long-term loneliness, misunderstanding, or negativity can create deep abandonment issues, closing the heart and causing further Energy Depletion in chakras.
4. Excessive Energy Spin (Overactivity/Overdeveloped)
An Excessive Energy Spin in one chakra can also throw the entire chakra system off balance. This usually occurs when the chakras above or below it are in a state of Energy Depletion, causing energy to accumulate and swell in one center.
This creates extreme personality traits:
Excessive Energy Spin in Heart Chakra: desperate for love, controlling love, unable to empathize
Excessive Energy Spin in Root Chakra: extreme insecurity, obsessed with others’ opinions, overeating or overusing physical desires to fill emptiness

A Gentle Note
Everyone meets difficult people and hard situations. It is completely normal for chakras to occasionally experience Energy Stagnation, Energy Depletion, or other forms of imbalance. You do not need to fear, worry, or judge yourself.
When you begin to understand, realign gently, and let crystals support your healing, balance will return — slowly, gently, and surely.
